Areas of Professional Study and Interest

Ellen Bunker has wide-ranging international experience in Asia, Africa, Europe, the South Pacific, and the Middle East. In addition to her experience in teaching English to secondary, university, and adult international students, she has consulted on distance education policy and curriculum development projects for the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, educational corporations, and the United States military. Her primary interests include program and curriculum development, specializing in distance education and English for speakers of other languages. In addition, Ellen has research interests in historical developments and trends in education. Most recently, she assisted in the development of the Academic English course in the Technology Assisted Language Learning (TALL) program produced at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and in the development of seven online English language classes at Brigham Young University-Hawaii.

Ellen received a B.A. in English from Arizona State University (’76), an ESOL Materials Development graduate certificate from the University of London, UK (’87), an M.A. in TESOL from BYU (’88), and an Ed.D. in Adult Education from The Pennsylvania State University (‘98).
